About Cupping Therapy
Cupping naturally draws blood to the external capillaries of the body and as a result minor welts or bruises may be left after a treatment.
The suction effect generated by cupping therapy can result in passive congestion of local skin tissue and thus contribute to the promotion of tissue circulation so as to enhance the metabolism. Cupping therapy can stimulate the reflex of the nervous system to the cerebral cortex, contributing further to an increased rate of recovery from disease.
The skin is our largest organ, containing fluid, blood, blood vessels, connective tissue, muscle and rich in nerve supplies.
How does it work?
By creating suction, cupping is used to;
Drain excess fluids and toxins,
Loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue,
Bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin.
Cupping should generally improve blood and Qi flow in any 'congested' area of the body where it is used.

Cupping Therapy Sliding Technique
Both liquid cupping and cupping over an acupuncture needle are favored for treatment of arthralgia. Cupping also is thought to dispel cold by virtue of its ability to release external pathogenic factors, including invasion of wind, damp, and cold.
Cupping (as the therapy is commonly known), is used frequently and complements acupuncture and massage. Suction cups placed at various points on the body create a vacuum that draws toxins to the surface of the skin. This stimulates the person's protective energy and consequently their immune system. The skin is the body's largest organ, and because it has the richest circulation it clears toxins quickly and efficiently.
Only side effects of cupping is the bruising. The bruising can vanish straightaway or can take 3 - 7 days to clear if the circulation is poor.
