 Also
known as Thermo-Auricular Therapy, Hopi Ear Candle treatments
offer real and marked benefits for many problems and conditions
associated with the ear, nose and throat areas.
Hopi ear candles are named
after the Native American tribe who first introduced this
gentle therapy to the West. Ear candles are used widely
throughout North America and Asia and although the current
treatment has come to us from the Hopi tribe, the use of
ear candles to treat ear problems has been known for centuries,
having been used by the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks. Ear
candling is an ancient and natural therapy that can be effective
in removing old and troublesome blockages from the ear canal.
This therapy is widely used by doctors in Europe and America
as an alternative to conventional treatments such as antibiotics,
ear syringing and grommets.

 How
does Hopi Ear Candle Therapy work?
The candles are made from
the natural ingredients of beeswax, constructed of flax,
honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene
and therapeutic herbs.
The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities
to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise
the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable
for most conditions.

Secretion
flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects
and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these
are carried away through the candle "chimney",
although some of them can be found in the condensed
candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or
could even work their way up to the surface 24-48
hours after. |

When
is Hopi Ear Candle Therapy not advisable? 
No contradications are known
to date but as a precaution, it is advisable not to use
Hopi candles :
1. If you have an acute or chronic disease (in this case,
the client's doctor should advise)
2. If you have perforated eardrum
3. If ear grommets have been fitted
4. If there is an ear infection present
5. If the ears are inflamed or infected
6. In the event of an allergic reaction to the contents
Occasionally there may be an allergic reaction to the ingredients
of the candle (Beeswax, Honey, St. John's Wort, Camomile,
Beta Carotene and Cotton). This can be in the form of itching,
which can be relieved with eardrops.
However, most clients find the treatment relaxing and regularly
describe a "slight relieved feeling" in the ears
and head but also a relaxing and calming effect on the whole
system.
Where long-term conditions are being treated, the client
sometimes experiences slight headaches and occasional popping
shortly after the treatment
